The White Pass & Yukon Route Today

October 17 & 19, 2011

While walking on the clay cliffs at Whitehorse on October 17th, I watched a crew clearing debris from the White Pass tracks at "Big Bend". The clay cliffs are more or less constantly sliding, so this is a regular job.

The very quiet Railroad Dock on October 19th. In less than 7 months the dock will once again be packed with cruise ships, trains and thousands of people every day.

On the way back to Whitehorse on October 19th I met a line of MOW equipment at Ptarmigan Point, headed back to Fraser (or perhaps all the way to Skagway).
